Miami Sunset

Looming back towards downtown Miami Florida from the Port Road Bridge at sunset.

This long exposure photograph I took of the amusement ride “Zipper” remains my best example of capturing a carnival ride at night. Combining my love of photography and the traveling carnivals into one image.

I captured this at an annual fall festival in St Pete.

Miami Heat House

On a weekend staycation to Miami, staying downtown on the riverfront I took the obligatory night walk with my camera on a tripod.

As I was walking back accross the Port Road Bridge toward downtown the arean where the Miami Heat call home presented itself in what I think is a pretty photogenic way.

I set up my tripod and grabbed some shots. Inside my head I was thinking that shots from the front were going to turn out better, the wide angle architecture shots.

But over time I have settled on this one as my represntation.

Long Exposure Passagrille Jetty

Here is an early attempt at long exposure photography involving water and rocks. This would grow to be one of my favorite subjects!

This is taken on the rock jetty on Passagrille Beach at night. The water was not flat but a little choppy, hence the foamy misty effect at the edge of the rocks.

Long Exposure Naples Pier

One of the great things about living on the Gulf Coast of Florida was the regular brilliant sunsets and the multitude of places to photograph them from.

Almost every city or town on the gulf coast of Florida has a pier or some type of structure to put in your sunset photographs, the addition of water plays well with long exposures.

And for some time, that was my weekend staycation strategy.

Work my way up and down the coast, with folding chair, camera on a tripod with an nd filter and wait for the precise moment that occurs when the setting sun reaches a certain position near or below the horizon.

Here was the pier in Naples Florida, at sunset. One of those exact moments that many people take for granted every day, captured.

Locale Market

When I first moved to St. Pete in the early 2000’s there was a shopping area in downtown St Pete called Baywalk. It had shops, restaurants, movie theater, etc. It was touristy.

At some point is was renovated and rebranded Sundial, a little more upscale. One of the new places was the Locale Market, I grabbed this image one night on a photowalk, I think it processed well in black and white.

I did not frequent the shops or eatery’s as much as i did when than before, i kinda got priced out .

Light Circus

Here is a long exposure photograph of a carnival ride at a fall festival in St Petersburg Florida. The light trails it produced are pretty cool, this was not my best capture of the night, but I love the way it looks, and I love the way it reminds me of one of my favorite things to do, visit traveling carnivals, they have such a cool atmosphere about them!
